The Red Party

When: Thu., Oct. 27, 7-11 p.m. 2011

In its past two incarnations, the Red Party, an annual fundraiser for the American College of the Building Arts, has been pretty basic. All you needed to do to fit the theme was wear red, whether it was a dress, a button-down, or something more fantastical. This year, you should still wear red, but you can also be a little bit more clever. "The Red Party has always been a big hit with costumes, but considering our unique venue, the Old City Jail, we thought it would be fun to step it up this year and add a theme to the event," local interior decorator and co-organizer Cortney Bishop says. "We came up with 1920s-cocktail-with-a circus-flair a la the movie Water for Elephants." So you can wear red, or you can wear a flapper dress or a circus costume (bonus points if they’re red too). The night will also feature circus-inspired food from Jack’s Cosmic Dogs and other restaurants, cocktails, a silent auction, jugglers, a tarot card reader, and live music from The V-Tones.
