The Rocky Horror Show: Live

When: Fri., Oct. 24, 8 & 11 p.m. and Sat., Oct. 25, 8 p.m. 2008

Before the cult classic film and all the bizarre late-night viewings it spawned, Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show was one of the most scandalous musicals to hit the British stage. The Little City Musical Theatre Company follows up their spring debut Songs for a New World with a revival of this kitschy, irreverent show. The local cast and five-piece band braved the rain for a preview performance at Poe: Back from the Grave a few weeks ago, but things are expected to go much more smoothly within the dry safety of the Terrace Theatre. The plot: On the way to visit an old college professor, two clean-cut kids, Brad Majors and his fiancée Janet Weiss, run into trouble and seek help at a freaky Frankenstein mansion. They soon discover that the mansion is inhabited by alien transsexuals from the planet Transylvania and Dr. Frank N. Furter is in the midst of one of his maniacal experiments. It’s a mix of rock musical, a spoof of sci-fi movies, and a crazy story of seduction and sexual confusion. Juicy. —Erica Jackson
