Voodoo Tiki Bar and Lounge

Description: Voodoo brings some much-needed Polynesian flavor to the Lowcountry, with a few velvet paintings and wild full moon parties thrown in the mix. The Avondale restaurant recently updated both its space and its menu, revamping the cocktail list to utilize more fresh ingredients — but don’t worry, the drinks are still served in kitschy tropical tumblers with as much flare as they can fit poking out of the top. The food menu is packed with inventive bar fare that probably shouldn’t even be called bar fare. There’s a selection of satisfying sliders like duck club, oxtail, and the crispy fried white bean burgers, or try the gourmet tacos — barbecue duck and Baja shrimp are popular choices. The pizza du jour is often an adventurous choice; a recent special featured cilantro pesto, pineapple, cheese, and bacon. It was surprisingly delicious. —Erica Jackson CurranDish (Winter 2014)

What an excellent event! We had eight stories last night that spanned comedy to poignancy, and covered topics such as little league, high school and college trip misadventures, and how to become best friends with Richard Simmons (hint: sing along with him). Thanks to John McMahon for organizing the event and to all the story tellers who were brave enough to get up in front of a bunch of strangers and share true stories with us.

We want to thank everyone that came out last night for our new menu unveiling! The response to 50% off night was so good that we were completely overwhelmed and had to stop taking food orders so we could restock the kitchen for round two! We sold 3 times the amount of food that we've sold on our busiest night ever, so our apologies if you had to wait- we hope the drinks and the company helped pass the time and that, in the end, you enjoyed our new menu. Thanks again for your continued support!

Re: “Lunacy at Voodoo

Bring earplugs. Nonstop loudness. Write drink orders on cards and carry them with you. Madness. Throw caution to the wind. But be careful.

Will never go there as long as they continue to serve Foie Gras.
