The big news this week? The release of the final volume in the Wheel of Time series. Read on, book lovers, read on.

If you've never seen a monster truck rally, this weekend's your chance — the Monster Truck Jam is coming to the N. Charleston Coliseum. Who doesn't like seeing cars get squished to pieces?

Help raise money for Lowcountry Local First's new 2013 programming at their oyster roast at the Charleston Crab House. We're feeling pretty tropical today already (70s in January? Maybe global warming isn't all bad ...), but the Hawaiian stylings of the band Olu Olu will have you feeling like you're in island paradise.

Seems to be a naughty kind of weekend: DanceFX's Naughty New Year: Love Kills is happening at the Music Farm, and The Motherf**ker with the Hat opens at PURE.

The Alliance Francaise is showing Les Hommes Libres, a film about an Algerian immigrant who ends up spying on a Paris mosque for the Nazis.

Be a tourist and take advantage of the Buy One, Get One admission deals at the Center for Birds of Prey and Magnolia Plantation.

Saturday, support environmental education by heading to the Sewee Outpost for the Sewee Association's Music and Oysters for Wildlife bash. They'll have tons of food and music by Doug Jones, Danielle Howle w/Firework Show, and the Red Dog Ramblers, and more.

Tiny dancers can audition for children's parts in The Charleston Ballet Theater's Snow White and The Wizard of Oz.

Sci-fi and fantasy fans: this is your day. CofC's Addlestone Library is hosting a Robert Jordan Wheel of Time fanfest to celebrate the launch of Memory of Light, the final volume in the Wheel of Time series. Read more about the event here.

Sunday, head to Dill Sanctuary to wish the Charleston Museum a happy 240th birthday — they're celebrating with an oyster roast and nature and history walks.

Brides-to-be can gorge themselves on wedding cake samples, ogle floral arrangements, and finger place settings at the Charleston Bridal Show.

And with this weather, this will be a Second Sunday on King that you really shouldn't miss.
