If you're like us, you'll be at the Charleston Comedy Festival all weekend. But since those shows are all at night, maybe you need stuff to fill your days, or maybe you don't even like laughing (not judging).
Friday, get your oyster roast on at the Charleston Crab House Charity Oyster Roast. Eating an endless supply of hand shucked oysters doesn’t feel so bad when the proceeds go to charity. You'll also want to hit up the Comedy Festival after-parties — Friday's is at the downtown Mellow Mushroom, and Saturday's is at Butcher & Bee.
Saturday, check out the Charleston Marathon, Half-Marathon, or 5K where music and performers will encourage runners throughout the route. Don’t want to watch people hitting the road in sneakers? Get out your leather jacket and join motorcyclists with a cause at Ride for a Reason to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Austen fans can celebrate the 200th anniversary of Pride and Prejudice.
Not to be a broken record, but back to comedy: If you want to provide the laughs instead of taking them in, consider auditioning for Carnivalesque. The troupe welcomes the weird and funny alike.
Get your culture fix on Sunday at the Defining Focus:Views of the Coast exhibit which combines aerial and macro photography of the Lowcountry shoreline. If you'd prefer to get your culture while seated (we can’t take off our stretchy pants either) head to The Olde North Charleston Picture House for a Community Cinema screening of Soul Food Junkies. Or check out Open Cockpit Sunday at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, where you can explore inside some of the museum’s most popular aircraft.
