It’s a big weekend here in the Holy City, and there’s no doubt that the outsiders are about to swarm our cobblestone streets. Not only does this weekend kick off the busiest time of year for Charleston, the Spoleto Festival USA, but it’s also Memorial Day weekend, meaning that families will arrive from all over the South to lounge at our glorious beaches.

But have no fear — we’ve got a slew of fun events to keep any local occupied amidst the hustle and bustle. And don't forget all the Spoleto events. Check out a full schedule of what's happening here, get the lowdown on this year's acts here, and stay updated on the latest and greatest on our Spoleto Buzz blog.

Friday. Relax Friday night with an art show opening. Texas native Phillip Durst will present No Moral Judgment Stands Alone, displaying an array of collages from the mixed media artist.

Then, do some shopping in from local artists at the weekly Evening Art Market.

Finish up your night with something completely different with the Southeastern Beard and Moustache Championship Welcome Party at the Recovery Room Friday night.

Saturday. Have a nice local sports night with the Charleston Battery soccer team as they take on the Rochester Rhinos during the Battery's annual Family Night.

Or if Spoleto has got you feeling more artsy, check out the Palmetto Bronze Handbell Ensemble perform classical to contemporary pieces.

Sunday. Spend your Sunday afternoon at a free artist lecture with Nathan Durfee. He'll discuss the paintings he presents in the Piccolo exhibit Tales Transposed: A Celebration of Imagination.

You could also catch a matinee with the famed murderous duo in Chicago, produced by the Flowertown Players.

Sunday night, compete for the best white outfit and celebrate Memorial Day at O-ku with their annual White Party.
