With the Charleston Wine and Food Festival going on, many of us will be committed to indulging our taste buds for the weekend. But even if you haven’t gotten tickets, you aren’t out of luck with all these other artistic endeavors and special events going on.

Get a taste of several different art forms on Friday night.  Start with visual art at the opening of Robert Lange Studios' Evolution, which will showcase artists’ recreations of works from their past.

Just down the road, the fashion students from the Art Institute will be putting on a fashion show.

Of course, you can’t forget about the performing arts. At the Sottile Theater, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and special guest dancers will perform standards of American musical theater, from Gershwin to Porter.

Another theatrical offering can be found at PURE Theatre. The current play is a workshop production of Arlene Hutton’s Parhelia. Or if you just want to laugh, check out Theatre 99’s newest comedy show, The Funny Bucket.

While your friends may be stuffing their faces at the Food and Wine festival, you can treat your body in a healthier way with a good run on Saturday morning at the Mullet Haul. And yes, it involves the ridiculous 80's do. Later, relax with some retail therapy. If you’re a music collector, it’s Vinyl Saturday at Monster Music, which means all of their vinyl will be 20 percent off all day.

Check out some free film screenings at the CharlestonGOOD film festival. If you’d rather stay outside, go to Cypress Gardens for the Breath of Spring flower show. Then Saturday night, say farewell to local artist Sarah Yoder with her last exhibit as a Charleston artist, Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained.

Sunday, get a glimpse of Southern history and catch the matinee performance of The Whipping Man at the Woolfe Street playhouse.

There's also a free screening of Gasland at the library. Afterward, grab a few drinks before returning to the work week either with Team Trivia at Manny’s or karaoke night at Upper Deck.
