The annual Cooper River Bridge Run celebrates 40 years this year, and it's going all out with popular events like the premiere of its Doggie Fashion Show, going down on March 31 (the day before the Bridge Run) in Hampton Park, starting at 2:30 p.m.

The show will feature the latest in canine and pet fashion, with creations from designer Ada Nieves, NYC based FIT grad who specializes in luxury pet fashions. The show will be emceed by dog lover and star of Southern Charm Patricia Altschul, along with one of her dogs.

Other guests include Margaret Konecky of The Elegant Hare, a specialty cashmere pet designer and Dana Humphrey, a.k.a. The Pet Lady, who will be educating people on the best tips and tricks for pet products and purchasing to keep your pet happy.

Dog models — adoptable pups from Pet Helpers of Charleston — will hit the runway in over-the-top, bedazzled outfits. Local dogs and their owners are welcome to participate as well. Checking out this event would definitely be barking up the right tree, and is an adorable (and not so sweaty way) to enjoy the Bridge Run.

You can also celebrate the Bridge Run this year with 40 Days of Bridge Run, which started in February and ends on race day, Sat. April 1. Each day the Bridge Run will raffle away prizes; raffle tickets are $20 and when you buy one you're entered to win over 200 prizes valued at over $50,000 in total. All of the prizes were donated by sponsors and 100 percent of every raffle ticket benefits one of the Bridge Run's 15 charities.

It's not too late to register for the run, either. You can still sign up for $55. Oh, and this year every finisher gets a medal — we're all winners, y'all.
