As if you needed an excuse to go to brunch, the Woodlands Resort in Summerville is now celebrating local artists during their weekly Lowcountry Grand Sunday Brunch. Created by the resort's five-star team of chefs, the locally-sourced, Lowcountry-themed food is sure to be tasty, and art lovers will appreciate the eye candy from the Artist's Palate series.

Each week a different artist will take up residence in the dining room and paint a Lowcountry landscape. Contemporary impressionist Rick Reinert will lead the event, and the artists will interact with guests and offer painting tips. Their work will be available for purchase.

Local talents Jennifer Black and Madeline Dukes are featured this week. They'll be painting the same subject in their own styles. On Dec. 5, Steven Jordan is the featured artist, Hilarie Lambert is Dec. 12, and Karen Hagan is Dec. 19.

The sumptuous brunch costs $42 per adult and $15 for kids. Children 3 and under are free. Reservations are required, call (843) 875-2600 for details.
