The Contemporaries of the Columbia Museum of Art are seeking entries for the seventh annual Artist of the Year Soiree and Silent Auction. Besides having their work on view at the event in Columbia in May, applicants have a chance at being named Artist of the Year, which comes with a $2,000 cash reward.

This year’s five-member jury panel includes Charleston’s own Robert Lange (Robert Lange Studios) and Karen Ann Myers (Redux Contemporary Art Center) as well as Brian Lang (Columbia Museum of Art’s curator of decorative arts), J.J. Ohlinger (founding member of CAFfeine), and Wim Roefs (Columbia’s ART Gallery).

All S.C. residents can submit up to two entries of any media by March 11 at 5 p.m. All works must be ready to hang. The Contemporaries also require all works to be for sale and they will retain 40 percent commission on any art sold. Go to columbiacontemporaries.com or call (803) 343-2198 for more information.
