The Tony Award nominees were announced this week, and there are a few familiar faces in the lineup. Patti LuPone (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), who lives on Edisto Island, was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical. She's up against her co-star Laura Benanti, Tammy Blanchard (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), Victoria Clark (Sister Act), and Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon).

Catch Me If You Can, a new musical based on the true story of former con artist Frank Abagnale, Jr., got a number of nods, including Best Musical, Best Actor in a Leading Role (Norbert Leo Butz), Best Sound Design (Steven Canyon Kennedy), and Best Orchestrations (Marc Shaiman and Larry Blank). What's the local connection, you ask? Well, Mr. Abagnale now resides in the Holy City.
