The Charleston County Public Library has officially entered the modern age. You know, the one where paper doesn’t exist. Now you can download free eBooks onto your computer or portable device from ccpl.org.

They’re offering more than 1,200 books from OverDrive, a full-service distributor of digital content that services 15,000 libraries around the world. Selections include everything from new best-sellers to children’s books to classics, and the library will be updating the list over the course of the year. Card-holders can download two eBooks at a time and check them out for two weeks, after which the files expire (no more late fees!).

That just leaves one (slightly tongue-in-cheek) question: Why do we need to go to the library anymore? Find out more at ccpl.org.
