Local hybrid media-technology company BiblioLabs was recently awarded a Publishing Innovation Award, which honors the most innovative e-books, enhanced e-books, and book apps of the year. Specifically, they were recognized for an iPad application they created for the British Library’s 19th century historical collection.
Released last August, the app allows users to interact with books and other items from the past, giving users access to more than 45,000 works from the British Library. “We were among award winners such as Jay-Z, Penguin, Random House, and Simon & Schuster,” BiblioLab’s Shauna Winkler said in a recent e-mail. “This worldwide recognition has put us on the industry map and opened the door for more beneficial partnerships with illustrious institutions.”
She says to keep an eye out for BiblioBoard, a social magazine app “that will once again bring attention to S.C.’s publishing industry.” Find out more about the company at bibliolife.com.
