The new conservatory the Charleston Performing Arts Center (see our story on them here
) is hosting open auditions for three different programs on Sun. Jan. 11.
At 10 a.m., aspiring Broadway actors can try out for the school’s musical theater program. According to CPAC’s press release, candidates should prepare a vocal selection and be ready to give a cold reading and learn a short dance combination.
That same day, actors can audition for either the New York Summer Intensive, which takes students to New York for seven days of immersion in theater classes and workshops taught by industry masters, or the Charleston Summer Intensive, which is a three-week course of daily classes in all aspects of musical theater. For the Charleston intensive, students will rehearse and perform the musical Grease. Courses are taught by faculty with Broadway experience.
And that’s not all that’s happening at CPAC that weekend. On Sat. Jan. 10, vocal instructor Stephanie Samaras will teach the master class “Classical Training Applied to the Pop Voice.” Students must register by Jan. 9 at 5 p.m. for this two-hour class. The cost is $25, and students must prepare their own song and provide their own sheet music. Learn more and register by emailing email@example.com or calling (843) 991-5582.
