Upper King Street continues to welcome new tenants, and national home furnishings store West Elm is one of the latest. We've heard from the local West Elm's management that the store, which sells upscale, contemporary furniture and home accessories, will also offer a Charleston LOCAL line with items and designs by artists from Charleston and South Carolina at large.

So far, items included will be prints and wall hangings by Kristen Solecki, 42 Pressed, Overton Iron Works, PerlaAnne, and SunWoven; stationery by Dodeline Designs, Sideshow Press, and painter Teil Duncan; and handcrafted kitchen accessories by Slab.

The store, which sits at 484 King St., has confirmed an opening date of Aug. 13.
