Jeff Koons creates works like inflatable bunnies.
Jeff Koons, a world-famous artist known for works that reflect and interpret pop-culture, will speak Nov. 16 at the Charleston Music Hall as part of the Gibbes Museum of Art's lecture series.. Most recently Koons' work was part of a 2014-2015 exhibition organized by the Whitney Museum of American Art, Jeff Koons: A Retrospective
, which showed at both Centre Pompidou Paris and Guggenheim Bilbao.
Koons is widely regarded
as a kind of art rebel, selling pieces of art at record-breaking prices, and creating works like the sculpture Puppy,
which had its own soil and internal irrigation system for the flowers growing on it. A 2014 Vanity Fair
article quotes Adam Weinberg
, the Whitney Museum of American Art's director, as saying, "Jeff is the Warhol of his time." High praise indeed.
See if you agree Wed. Nov. 16 at the Charleston Music Hall. Tickets are $15 for students, $60 for non-members, and $50 for members. Get them here.
