If you're tired of dragging the kiddos downtown or to Mt. Pleasant to get their theater camp fix, then take a gander at James Island's newest youth theater program, created by the Charleston Performing Arts Center, and designed for kids ages eight to 18.

The CPAC kicks off James Island Junior Theatre tomorrow with a party from noon-2 p.m. The event features a tour of the CPAC facility, a meet and greet with the CPAC staff, and a dessert bar.

Open auditions for the Junior Theatre's first production, The Little Mermaid Jr., will be held on Sat. Aug. 19 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and from 2-4 p.m. The Little Mermaid Jr. premieres on Oct. 27. The rest of the junior theater season's productions include The Wizard of Oz, Disney's Peter Pan Jr., and Hairspray Jr.
