If you're a fan of comedy in Charleston, there's no doubt you've seen an improv show or 10 at Theatre 99. While sitting in your squeaky (but oh so comfy) red chair have you ever wondered what it would be like to be on stage?

Theatre 99 introduces two new rounds of improv classes this January, one for beginners and one for intermediate improv-ers. Intro to Improv, led by Theatre 99 co-founder and Have Nots member Brandy Sullivan, kicks off on Thurs. Jan. 30. In this seven week class you'll participate in group games and exercises, focusing on how to start an improv scene.

In Intro to Character Building, led by another Theatre 99 co-founder and Have Nots member, Greg Tavares, you'll create dynamic, honest, and comic characters in improv scenes. Students build on what they learned in their Intro to Improv class and learn a character creation method called "The How." These classes take place on Tuesdays starting on Jan. 23.
