May the Fourth and free comics be with you at Captain’s Comic & Toys as they give out over 4,000 free comics to celebrate Free Comic Book Day. The festivities start Sat. May 4 at 8 a.m. and end at 8 p.m. as attendees choose three (free!) books from a wide selection of over 60 different comics for children and adults alike.

One of the comic book highlights that will be up for grabs is Marvel's Spider-Man: Absolute Carnage prelude. This comic pins the iconic Spider-Man against one of his most deadly and popular foes, Carnage. DC Comics will also have a special title featured, their young adult series Under the Moon: A Catwoman Story. Other titles that will be featured include Stranger Things, Firefly, and Bob's Burgers. Captain’s Comics will also be offering an exclusive, limited-edition cover for DC Villain’s Special, a collection of DC’s baddest villains in leading roles.

Free comics might be the best deal attendees will see, but it won’t be the only one. Captain’s Comics will be having a massive sale with a tent in the parking lot filled with $1 comics and graphic novels with huge discounts. Inside, there will be deals on Star Wars figures, statues, Marvel and DC super hero figures, older comics, and Funko Pops.

On site there will also be local comic book artists like Shawn Durington who will be drawing sketches and selling prints. Charleston local Marcus Cripps will also be present to sell prints as well as original sketches of comic book classics and characters from pop culture.

Carolina Caricatures will be in attendance to draw guests as their cartoon alter ego —whether that’s a superhero, princess, or whatever else they can imagine. There will be plenty of employees on hand to give you recommendations and help you find your next obsession.
