When putting together our first issue of Dirt (Lowcountry local food guide, see it here), I was impressed with how many local food products are made here in Charleston. Seriously. We've got everything from biscuits and Bloody mary mix to beer and barbecue sauce.
And what better way to showcase those local products than by giving out copious free samples at the BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival in 2012? Applications to the vendor village will be accepted until Fri. Nov. 11, and if you're in the food and bev field, you might want to consider being a part of the Grand Tasting Tent next year.
The entire setup in Marion Square is being redesigned in an attempt to improve the event and increase attendance. It costs $600 to participate, and vendors are required to hand out samples throughout the three days. It is a tasting tent, after all. A portion of the registration fee will benefit the festival's charity partners: Feed the Need and Lowcountry Local First's Incubator Farm and Training Center.
