Biscuit maven Carrie Morey (of Callie’s Charleston Biscuits) shared with City Paper
today her plans to open a new a counter-service restaurant, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit at 476 ½ King (currently Parlor Hair). According to a press release, Morrie says, “Since the beginning of this business, fans of Callie’s Biscuits have urged us to open up a little shop — ‘a hot little biscuit shop’ they would say. 476 ½ King Street has just the right character, and we’re thrilled to squeeze into all 629 square feet of it and make it a destination, albeit tiny, for biscuit lovers near and far.”
Callie’s Biscuit fanatics will be happy to hear that she plans to serve a variety of freshly baked products, including all seven varities of her biscuits, sandwiches (like her signature pimiento cheese — plain or grilled), as well as a selection of other breakfast, lunch, and late night eats. Her frozen packaged products will also be available, and Morey says she has plans to partner with local producers for Biscuit of the Day creations — think Glass Onion’s Belle’s Country Sausage biscuits. Stitch Design Co. has signed on to help develop the interior and if you’ve seen Stitch’s recent work on the stunning Edmund’s Oast, you can imagine the possibilites. The shop is expected to open late summer.
