Motobar — a vegan, motorcycle-themed restaurant going into the old L.I.F.E. Bar — is set to open next week. We got wind of the launch via a friends and family soft opening invite on Facebook and confirmed with co-owner Paris Evans.
"We plan to start with breakfast," Evans says.
In our initial interview with the entrepreneur and chef, Evans shared that her tofu-friendly-biker concept wouldn't necessarily be what you think of a biker bar. Instead, Motobar will be "more vintage style, with ’60s and ’70s racer pictures," and the food will be a mix of things like breakfast burritos with tofu scramble and pizza served on naan. Evans told us she even has a poutine in the works.
As previously reported, Evans studied at L’Academie de Cuisine and has always found it hard to be vegan or vegetarian in Charleston. She hopes Motobar will help fill that void.
Paper still covers the windows at 487 King St., so we can't bring you interior shots just yet. Expect to get a glimpse on the blog next week.
