Atlanta Magazine reports this morning that Chef Sean Brock is doubling his Minero concept with a second location in Atlanta's Ponce City Market. The new location will be open in April 2015. Incidentally, Mixson was created by the same developers as Ponce City Market, Jamestown.

According to the market's website, Minero will join other restaurants including Bread Box, H&F Burger, Honeysuckle Gelato, and Simply Seoul Kitchen.

David Howard of the Neighborhood Dining Group says he and Brock were first impressed with Jamestown's work while visiting the developer's Chelsea Market for taco research. "It was a very interesting and stimulating place to be," he says. And with infrastructure and man power already in Atlanta, Howard adds that the city seemed like the logical next step for a Minero expansion.

But a future chain of Mineros a la Shake Shack isn't something Howard is ready to discuss. "The truth is even though we're expanding, we're pretty conservative," he says. Two Mineros is all he's ready to consider at the moment. But what of Sean Brock, the five-time executive chef at McCrady's, Husk, Husk Nashville, Minero, and now Minero Atlanta?

"He worries 24/7 about his restaurants," Howard says. "I respect the man because he's done an excellent job of developing people and providing them with opportunities just like Brian Baxter in Nashville and Travis Grimes in Charleston. He gets a great deal of satisfaction of promoting from within."

That will be the next step for Brock in Atlanta. According to Atlanta Magazine, Brock will serve as executive chef for the first months at the Atlanta Minero, and then name a chef de cuisine to take over.
