Hello My Name Is...BBQ and Local 616 have a new neighbor: Diggity Doughnuts. That's right, Ambergre Sloan's much-loved vegan doughnut food truck now has its very own brick-and-mortar home at 616 Meeting St. Suite D — or Sweet D as Sloan's calling it.

We visited the papered glass door today to get a look at the chef's new space and the renovation is remarkable. Sloan has redecorated the former Ike & Alice's (which closed in Sept.) with stripes in her signature teal and white along the walls, attached mason jar light fixtures, and boarded up the former door that lead into the fried chicken restaurant's dining room to create a wood bookshelf.

"Corey [Burke] from Roti Rolls donated all the reclaimed wood from The Green Door," Sloan says. "The wood gives it a masculine look."

Sloan had a visit from the fire marshal today and expects an inspector later this week. If all goes smoothly, she hopes to be open by next Wednesday. But the opening of the new shop will not end the life of Diggity Doughnuts food truck. Sloan plans to keep both businesses operational, but she says, "I'll probably need to hire some people."

As for the menu, Diggity fan favorites like Sloan's peanut butter Sriracha doughnut, will still be available, but the menu will evolve. "We're going to add a lot more like pies and things," she says.
