  • Sixty-year-old Big John's Tavern suffered a fire Monday morning
What a week. In between dropping our latest issue of Dish yesterday and working on Charleston Wine + Food Festival coverage for next week, we've been a bit slammed. But today we're playing catch up and have a handful of food news to share.

Following a Monday morning fire at Big John's Tavern, we've received word from the bar's business partner, John Adamson. In an email, the restaurateur tells us that they're still assessing the damages from the fire that, according to News 2, began in an apartment above the bar on the second story.

"Big John's suffered smoke and water damage, but that's all I know at this point," Adamson said, adding that he would know more regarding the bar's reopening in the next few days.

The Park Cafe
now has a a stand-alone dinner menu. Rather than one menu for lunch and dinner, co-owners Karalee Fallert and Xan McLaughlin decided customers would prefer dedicated dinner options. The new menu includes all-day favorites like the mushroom and walnut pate and house ricotta, but also more entrees, such as pork belly and sausage cassoulet, quail al mattone, and the wickedly good fettuccine bolognese. (We'd buy a bucket of the sauce if we could.)

The cafe's new service hours are breakfast Mon.- Sat., 7 a.m.-11 a.m.; lunch from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; light snacks 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m.; and dinner 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m.

If you're looking for last-minute tickets to Charleston Wine + Food Festival dinners, you're pretty much out of luck. And that includes Twenty Six Divine's Saturday night, $100-per-person dinner. But, to meet demand, the restaurant has decided to offer the same menu on Friday and for $15 less.

Husband and wife Chefs Enan and Jennifer Parezo will serve the same five-course meal Fri. March 6 at 6:30 p.m. The menu includes wine pairings and reservations can be made by calling (843) 297-8118.
