On Wed. May 27 a Staffordshire terrier mix was found with electrical tape tightly wound
around her muzzle, cutting off circulation to her tongue. She is a stray in the area, and the neighbors affectionately call her Caitlyn. She was taken to the Charleston Animal Society where they worked hard to come up with a solution that would save Caitlyn without hurting her further.
They were successful and she is now in recovery at the Animal Society.
The money for these surgeries comes from Toby’s Fund,
a charity set up for animals that come to the Society who have been abused and neglected. It was named after a Golden Retriever mix came who in with chemical burns all over his body, but, like Caitlyn, he pulled through. Toby was later adopted, and the Animal Society hopes another family will step up to adopt Caitlyn.
