A little food news for your Thursday morning. First up, Butcher & Bee's new Workshop, at the corner of Morrison Drive and Brigade Street, broke ground this week. The third restaurant from owner Michael Shemtov will be a bakery and cafe serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Down the peninsula, over at the Old Cigar Factory, work is nearly complete on Indigo Road's new Mercantile and Mash. In a press release today, the company announced that both will be opening in September. After more than a year of construction, executive chef Trey Dutton has been patiently waiting to lead the Mercantile — a "7,500 square-foot gourmet foods and retail space that will celebrate local and regional vendors and purveyors, top quality ingredients and house-made goods." The press release promises a to-go menu of sandwiches, salads, locally-roasted coffee, wines, craft beers, and meats and cheeses. Or you can upgrade your cured meat intake with a monthly Mercantile Butcher Box subscription.

Meanwhile, the Mash will be an American whiskey bar helmed by bar managers Jeremiah Schenzel and Teddy Nixon. That's if you can focus on your drink. We're told the bar will also feature bocce courts and 1980s arcade games.

Upstairs, Indigo Road's new event space, The Cedar Room, will also open in September.
