Tis the season for food halls. New York City has City Kitchen, Chelsea Market, Gansevoort Market, Le District, and more. Atlanta has Ponce City Market (home to the second Minero). And now Charleston, ever the kid sister trying to catch up, is getting a "huge" food hall on Upper King Street. That's the word from Butcher & Bee's publicist Andrea Felber. She says B&B owner Michael Shemtov is collaborating with Jonathan Ory of Chicago's Bad Wolf Coffee to open a Bad Wolf in the yet-to-be named hall.

Ory is a local. The 32-year-old attended Academic Magnet High School, where he met his wife. He worked at Momofuku Ko and Schwa, but it was his Chicago Bad Wolf Coffee and pastry shop where he made a name for himself. Known for killer kouign-amann, croissants, and canel├ęs, Ory quickly earned a legion of fans. But the family man decided to close up shop and move home in May after encouragement from his wife's grandmother, according to the Post & Courier.

The new food hall will house Bad Wolf in addition to many different restaurants and vendors, though Felber wouldn't reveal who or where it will be located. Of course we had our guesses. The one-time skating rink and former Port City Paper Co. building at 1056 King St. seemed like a likely candidate, but Felber tells us that's not the spot.

We'll share more details as they come.

UPDATE: The future home of Shemtov's food hall will be 1505 King St. According to the Post & Courier, it will be called Pacific Box & Crate Development and Ory will manage it. The hall is scheduled to open in 2017.
