Curious about how your favorite restaurants did on their last inspection? Well, DHEC just made accessing the grades for every eatery in town much easier.

With the S.C. Food Grades online app lets you search for info on all retail food establishments in the state. This includes restaurants, grocery stores, food trucks, convenience stores and schools.

Just go to scdhec.gov/foodgrades on your smart phone or computer to check out a map of nearby restaurants and read through the two most recent inspection scores and recent reports for those establishments. If you have a specific restaurant in mind, there is also a search option that can narrow down options to a particular address or business name.

“Food safety is our No. 1 goal, and this innovative new tool provides the public with up-to-date information in a user-friendly format,” said Renee Shealy, chief of DHEC’s Bureau of Environmental Health Services, in a news release. “South Carolina is known for its good food, and DHEC works closely with retail food establishments to help ensure that good hospitality and food safety are always hand-in-hand.”
