Dear Charleston, release the doves and cue up the "Hallelujah Chorus" — Hemingway's Rodney Scott of Scott's Bar-B-Que will finally open a Charleston outpost in the former Chick's Fry House.

The news comes via Post & Courier this morning. Hanna Raskin writes that Scott will open at the 1011 King St. location before the end of the year.

“I am finally, legitimately coming to Charleston. I’m just ecstatic to come: The city of Charleston has been like a parent, you know? They adopted us. They include us in everything they do, international and local," Scott told Raskin.

With the addition of Scott's Bar-B-Que, the Upper Peninsula will now be home to three major barbecue players with Lewis Barbecue, Home Team BBQ, and Scott's all within blocks of each other. As Raskin pointed out, this new 'cue surge is something our own contributor Robert Moss recently referred to as Barbecue Harbor on P&C's Winnow food podcast. And while Moss laughed at his turn of phrase on the episode, he now seems rather prophetic. (Not sure what that makes Moss — the Moses of barbecue, perhaps?)

At any rate, where Chick's food failed to make customers and the very vocal neighborhood of Wagener Terrace happy, Scott arrives with a beloved product. Given this city's current barbecue lust, we imagine Scott will be wildly successful here.
