Full disclosure: I'm a Vivian Howard groupie. My indoctrination happened sometime last January. In the final dreariness of Charleston's winter, I discovered (so late to the party) Howard's PBS show A Chef's Life and became immediately obsessed. There's something about the combination of the mother of twins' incredible work ethic at Chef & the Farmer, her Kinston, N.C.'s small town appeal, plus Howard's Southern food money shots that's like catnip to me. And I'm not alone. Howard has become a star for her restaurant and TV show, most recently taking home the Outstanding Personality/Host in the 2016 James Beard Foundation awards.

Now she's coming to Charleston in promotion of her new cookbook, Deep Run Roots. Howard is loading up her very own food truck for a 30-city book tour and on Tues. Oct. 18 she'll stop here.

Blue Bicycle Books
hosts Howard at Whole Foods from 5-8 p.m. for a $55 ticketed book signing. Tickets include a sandwich, drink, and a copy of the book. To grab a seat, click here.
