Ghost Monkey hosts LulaPalooza on Saturday
Is today the day the rain finally stops? It seems like it might be. And once it does, boy, are you going to need to go out and enjoy a beer. If the weather forecasters are to be trusted, the weekend is shaping up to be gorgeous. So here are some ideas for getting your fill of hops and malts while finally soaking up some sunshine.
Charleston Beer Runners has set up a 3.66 mile run from Hampton Park to Charles Towne Fermentory. The event is sponsored by Lowcountry Craft Distribution, and all runners will get their first beer for free. Momo Gastrotruck will also be there for participants to refuel upon arrival at the brewery.
2Nixons, the area’s favorite ramen and yakitori pop-up, will be on-site at Two Blokes Brewing beginning at 5 p.m. At 4 p.m., the brewery will be tapping a special “ludicrous hopped” cask of Drone, its 7 percent ABV honey rye IPA.
Enjoying live music outdoors with some delicious organic beer seems like a pretty good way to celebrate the rain finally going away. Freehouse Brewery will have The Green Thieves playing on the deck starting at 6 p.m. And if you missed it, the brewery has some very exciting plans for the future.
Lowcountry LulaPalooza Retailers will be at Ghost Monkey Brewing from 1-5 p.m. selling LuLaRoe clothing with 10 percent of the proceeds going towards the Charleston Animal Society. Boxcar Betty’s food truck will be on hand from 2-6 p.m. serving up chicken sandwiches, and there will be live music from 4-7 p.m.
Revelry Brewing is releasing bottles of Red 5 Standing By, its 7.5 percent ABV Flanders-style red ale. The beer was aged for eight months in a French oak foudre. There will be live music and food from Tobo Sushi.
The Spoleto Festival comes to a close at Middleton Place with plenty of Lowcountry food and beer from Frothy Beard, Cooper River, and Tradesman. The party goes from 3:30-10:30 p.m., and the Revivalists headline a full day of music at 8:30 p.m.
