In 2014, Charleston Beer Week held a 42 tap takeover at Closed for Business with all S.C.-brewed beers
In honor of its fifth year running, Charleston Beer Week
has added an eighth day onto the traditional week long festival for the 2017 shindig. Packing 48 events into that time period, they aren’t playing around this year. The aim, co-fouder Chrys Rynearson says is to celebrate local craft beer “from brewer to bartender, from keg to glass,” and they’ll do just that by offering a wide variety of craft beer both local and national for participants to imbibe.
Not all 48 of the events are live on the website yet, but from what is viewable, the festival will focus on outdoor fun. The kickoff is a disc golf tournament at COAST Brewing, and later that day, Holy City Brewing puts on a Sunset Paddle & Lowcountry Boil at Bowens Island Restaurant. There's also a Bike Ride at Marrington Plantation Trail and a downtown charity fun run. Other events will benefit charity, like Drink Beer, Save Turtles! at Holy City Brewing for Turtle Survival Alliance.
The festival runs September 9th through the 16th. Tickets are not yet available for all events, but stay tuned for their release.
