What does one ingest on the day the city goes dark? Apparently sugar and alcohol. That's what Charleston is serving up today as we all await the impending apoc-eclipse. Need your pre-blackout fix? Head to the following...
(Did we something? Send us a photo and info at firstname.lastname@example.org.)
Amarillo Eclipse Cocktail
5Church’s Beverage Director Patricia Smith has crafted a unique twist on her signature “Amarillo Moon” cocktail, the Amarillo Eclipse-made with Flor de Cana Rum, mango, lime, black lava salt and cayenne. The drink comes complete with complimentary Solar Eclipse glasses if you're still looking for a pair.
What could be more appropriate than a Moon Pie today? Thanksfully, EVO Bakery has that ish on lock. But it looks like they're going fast. Better hustle.
SOL Southwest Kitchen & Tequila Bar
SOL's party starts at 11 a.m. so you have plenty of time to chug their eclipse-themed specialty cocktails. The restaurant will also be giving out free glasses while supplies last. And there will be live music at each location on the patio from 4-7 p.m.
Callie's Hot Little Biscuit
Callie's has doubled down on the sweet and savory with a black and yellow icing topped biscuit that looks like the moon blocking the sun. Get 'em while they're hot.
Moon Pie Cake
Magnolia's pastry chef Andrea Upchurch knowns what's up. She's concocted a moon pie cake for maximum carbo-loading.
Waning Moon Moon Pie
Mercantile has also hopped on the moon pie bandwagon with its waning moon pie option.
