According to The State newspaper, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has plans to memorialize chickens hurt or killed in a Sept. 15 crash on I-95. The single vehicle crash took place outside of Santee scattering cages filled with chickens across the interstate. No people were hurt in the collision.

PETA's VP told The State that the billboard "will let travelers know that the best way to prevent such tragedies is to keep smart, sensitive chickens off the road in the first place by going vegan.”

The copy on the billboard will read:
"I'm me, not meat. See the individual. Go vegan."
