Greenville's Smoke N Brew features beer, wine, and smoke products. And now they're headed to Charleston.
Greenville's Smoke N Brew
, which describes itself as part beer store, part head shop, and part smoke store, is bringing a location to James Island this spring. Located in the former Blues Cajun Kitchen (815 Folly Road), the shop will carry a little bit of everything, according to one of Smoke N Brew's owners, Chuck Floyd.
"We carry a lot of CBD, stuff that Charleston hasn't seen before," says Floyd. "We do growlers, beer and wine to go. We sell jewelry, socks, T-shirts — we're a gift shop, too."
Perhaps most interestingly the store sells Kratom
, an evergreen plant in the Rubiaceae family that is native to Southeast Asia. The plant is said to have positive effects and is often used as an energy booster and mood enhancer. Be sure to do some research before diving headfirst into the stuff, though — the Mayo Clinic isn't so sure about it
In addition to their retail offerings, Smoke N Brew's Charleston location will have a beer garden in the backyard, with the potential to add other fun stuff like pool tables and a stage. (Floyd says nothing's for certain right now.)
Glass on glass on glass.
Smoke N Brew features a huge glass inventory, of which Floyd is pretty proud. "People like the hand blow glass for sure. We've got a large shisha and hookah selection," he says. He notes that hookah smoking is big in the Greenville stores, and hopes that it will take off in the Charleston location, especially with access to an outdoor area.
"We have got a huge buzz going," says Floyd of Smoke N Brew's hype in Charleston in the months leading up to their opening on Folly Road. "They're excited about what we're bringing."
It's worth noting that James Island's Smoke N Brew will be located next to another new establishment, Food Fight, opening in the former Roadside Seafood location. Like Smoke N Brew, Food Fight seems to be offering a little bit of everything — from tacos to oysters to ramen.
Stay tuned for Smoke N Brew
's opening date.
