West Ashley Farmers Market launches their 2019 season Wed. April 24

The market you didn't know you needed

Hey, farm to table fiends — now that it's officially spring (and getting warmer by the hour) there's a local farmers market almost every day of the week. That means there's no excuse not to stock up on as many local fruits and veggies as your eco-friendly bag can handle. Most markets, from Marion Square to the fringe spots, also feature local food trucks, entertainment, and craft vendors. It's the most fun you'll ever have grocery shopping.

The West Ashley Farmers Market, which only launched in spring 2016, starts their 2019 season tomorrow Wed. April 24 at 3 p.m. in Ackerman Park.

This year's poster was designed by local illustrator and graphic designer Tami Boyce. Her whimsical characters, from moo cows to sheep, enjoy an afternoon at the market, with a hen selling eggs and a pig hawking honey.

The sister market to Marion Square, WAFM is a bit smaller, but has all the perks of being a mid-week, neighborhood market: i.e. plenty of free parking. This Wednesday there will be live music by the Blue Plantation Band; past food vendors include Butcher & Bee, Charleston Crepe Company, BKeD, and Gelati Moto.

Vendors accept cash, credit card, EBT, WIC, and senior vouchers.
