Looking to get acquainted with the harder side of the Charleston music scene? You could do worse than to show up at the Doom of the Gods Festival at the Brick House Kitchen on Sat. Aug. 27, organized by punk act the 33’s.

The event will host some of the Holy City’s most unholy racket-makers. On one end of the spectrum, you’ll hear pop-punkers Captain Blackout and Double O. At the extreme outer limits of metal and hardcore sit Skwirl Grinda and Battle Scarred Saints. And there’s straight-up rockers Torture Town. It’s not all chugging guitars and gruff vocals, though: the Royal Tinfoil will play their gypsy-tinged Americana, Bully Pulpit will churn out some electric blues, and Skye Paige will bring the heat with some outlaw cow-punk.

The fest also features local art-work, fire-eating, glass-blowing, and exotic dancers on hand. Food and beverages (soft drinks, wine, and beer) will be provided by the Brick House Kitchen. All-ages. The music runs from noon to midnight. Admission is $12, ($10/advance). —Paul Bowers
