Neil Young turns 66 this week
Alex Harris of the Pour House has assembled a group of local musicians for A Tribute to Neil Young on Sun. Nov. 13, celebrating the rock legend’s 66th birthday. Local bands Guilt Ridden Troubadour and Mac Leaphart and My Ragged Company will head the lineup with support from Columbia’s Josh Roberts and the Hinges and special guests John Wesley Satterfield and Danielle Howle.

“Everybody likes to get together and jam with friends, and I don’t know any songwriters who don’t like Neil Young,” says Leaphart, who will play signature Young songs “Heart of Gold” and “Powderfinger” at the tribute. “The rumor is that Young wrote ‘Powderfinger’ for Lynyrd Skynyrd, but Ronnie Van Zant was killed before they could record it.”

Guilt Ridden Troubadour will include their rousing version of “Ohio” by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, as well as “Everybody Knows This is Nowhere” and “Cinnamon Girl.” A Tribute to Neil Young is sure to be a jamming weave of Young classics and original music by the performers.

Admission is $8. Music starts at 8 p.m. Visit charlestonpourhouse.com for more. —Duffy Lewis
