“As devout Meters fanatics, we decided to do it right and devote a night to the original funkticians,” says sax man Quinn. “The first set will be us doing mostly instrumental Meters covers, and the second set will be much more vocal heavy — all Meters tunes, each song featuring a special guest.”
Guests musicians at the show include drummer/bassist Steven Sandifer of Dangermuffin, singer/guitarists Caleb Bodtorf and Young-Mi Feldscott of Old You, guitarists Tom Leonscyk and William Moore of Weigh Station, drummer Stuart White and pianist Gerald Gregory of Faces For Radio, and vocalist Chris Hyatt, among others.
“Once the weather warms up, we also plan on doing the Meters thing weekly on the deck, making it a regular Pour House feature,” Quinn says. “I will be organizing what we’re calling the PoHo Family Jam, too. It is basically a big jam session for the all the Pour House regulars with huge amounts of awesome music, ranging from Dead covers to soul originals — from funk to bluegrass. It’s a pretty awesome thing — a big community of local all-stars.”
