Hinder
If you really must leave Charleston during St. Patrick’s Day weekend, you could do worse than paying a visit to Columbia. For one reason or another, the capital city goes ape for green beer, blocking off the college-bar section of town known as Five Points and bringing in enough big-time bands to shake a shillelagh at. And hey, they’re going to dye the fountain green again.

This year, Oklahoma hard-rock heavy hitters Hinder take top billing, followed by Columbia-bred post-grungers Crossfade. There will be four different stages set up on the streets this year with 19 bands, so get there before noon and plan out your day. The Charleston boys of All Get Out will take the WCOS Stage on Blossom Street at 2:30 p.m., and the Devil Makes Three — perhaps the most stylistically appropriate band of the day with their brand of folk-punk — will appear on the Budweiser/Free Times Stage on Saluda Avenue at 3:30 p.m. Other South Carolina favorites include Josh Roberts (sans Hinges), John Wesley Satterfield, the Movement, and Hilton Head native Trevor Hall.
