In case you missed it, Charleston's own Shovels & Rope rocked David Letterman's face off on the Late Show last night:
For their network television debut, Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent played "Birmingham," the band's origin-story song off of the 2012 album O' Be Joyful. Hearst, on guitar and lead vocals, grinned from ear to ear for most of the performance.
"Fantastic," Letterman said at the end. Then he paid a compliment to Trent, who was working triple duty as usual on drums, harmonica, and vocals. "Very busy over here, isn't he?" he said to Hearst. "You just play and sing; he's got nine things going on here."
Here's what the band had to say about it on the Twitter:
@voteletterman You are such a gracious host. Thanks for making the day of a couple of Carolina hayseeds.
