Brave Baby goes sailing with Susto

On Sat. Nov. 23 put on your sailor hats and break out your season-ready hipster scarves. It's time for Brave Baby on a Boat. The Charleston City Paper Music Award nominated indie rockers Brave Baby — Wolfgang Zimmerman, Keon Masters, Christian Chidester, Jordan Hicks, and Steven Walker — will be sailing into the briny blue aboard the Carolina Queen, with local band Susto as their first mates. The boarding parties should be at the Maritime Center at 7 p.m., and the boat sets sail at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $30 for the 21-and-up all-inclusive ticket.

You'll want to catch this one because it might be a while before Brave Baby plays in town again. Brave Baby bassist Jordan Hicks says, "After the Queen we are pretty open-ended." Hicks notes the band has a Holy City gig lined up in January, but after that, things get a little weird. "NASA is interested in some kind of a lunar show soon — first band to the moon, 2015."

But as exciting as a imaginary trip to the moon is, Hicks and his fellow Babies — most of them at least — are looking forward to the Carolina Queen gig. "The boat show should be a great experience," Hicks says. "After we pump Stephen with 80ccs of Dramamine, he should be able to handle it."
