A handful of local musicians recently wrote a tribute song, “Unity Bridge,” referring to the aftermath of the Emanuel AME shootings, and on Mon. Aug. 3, they recorded the track at the church with Mother Emanuel’s choir.

Tommy Gielingh and John Picard from International Morality and CODA’s Blake Williams and Evan Lampkin all participated in the track’s composition, which has been in the works for several weeks at Return to Zero, a James Island recording studio.

The group also had a videographer on hand at the church, so the unique event is fortunately well documented.

As for the single and video release, the date is still to be determined but something should surface in the near future.
