New indie-rock band Secret Guest recently released an EP and an LP on the same day via Academia Tapes.

Songs from both collections were revealed for the first time on Wed. Sept. 16 in a podcast featuring an interview between "Good Barry Jenson" and "Brett Nash." The interviewer, however, was actually comedian Jason Groce disguised in a gravelly, Billy Cosby-like voice, while the voice of a  self-involved version of "Brett Nash" — who can play anything from a guitar to a blender — was ...  also Jason Groce.

The 12-track Goodnight Nothing features a few guests, including Ellen Elias (drums on “PGGhost”), Jessa Vaughan (cello on “Zender’s Parenthesis,” “The I’m Nothing Blues”), Academia Tapes’ Greg Elias , a.k.a. Greg Islands (bass on “PGGhos”, drums on “The I’m Nothing Blues”), Tape Waves’ Kim Hart Weldin on vocals (“Dark Green Vibes at the Parkhotel”), and band founder Brett Nash, a.k.a. Ned Brash, on “everything else.”

Produced by YR LAD’s Harper Marchman-Jones, the six-song Joker City EP features all Secret Guest core members (Ned Brash, Andrei Mihailovic, Michael Milam, and Dorian Warneck).

You can listen to and buy the albums at academia.bandcamp.com.
