East Cooper Democrats are hosting a special presentation Thursday night from actor Bill Oberst Jr. called "In His Image — Biology and Sexual Orientation From a Christian Perspective." There was a little confusion about the time and location, but the official word is that it will be at 6 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Library. Here's the prepared release:
Are people born gay? Actor Bill Oberst Jr. steps out of character to examine the surprising science behind that question. Oberst will discuss the known, the unknown and the still-in-question, using the latest scientific research findings. He'll also put things into historical context by looking at how science and sexual orientation have intersected in the past. A discussion period with audience members follows the talk. Oberst is known for his portrayal, "Jesus of Nazareth," and for recreations of notable men of history like Mark Twain and John F. Kennedy. "In His Image" is touring to church, college and civic groups across the South, and he is writing a book to accompany the tour. If you've ever wondered how you or someone you love came to be "that way" you’ll be interested in this fascinating and fun presentation.
