Evidently, the Charleston County School District is going to change the way educators deal with bags of unknown white powder

Charleston County school administrators may receive some coaching on how to handle contraband after a principal told police she tasted white powder in a plastic bag because she didn't believe it was cocaine.

"We're going to use this as a teachable moment," said Elliot Smalley, district communications director.

Officials were discussing possible guidelines for how to handle drugs, weapons or evidence of a possible crime, Smalley said. They hope to consult with law enforcement before putting anything in writing.
