There are so many cool things happening in March — Charleston Wine + Food, Charleston Fashion Week, City Paper's Best of Charleston Party — and the film scene is not excluded. The Charleston Film Festival, which will take place March 16-20, has announced its initial lineup. Organizer and Terrace Theater owner Paul Brown has used his industry connections (he's had a film screen in the Toronto International Film Festival) to create an impressive program.

CFF will feature the local premiere of a number of films. The High Cost of Living, featuring Zach Braff, won the Best Canadian Film award at TIFF. The Whistleblower, based on the true story of a post-war Bosnia peacekeeper and whistleblower, stars Rachel Weisz. Sally Hawkins, who received an Academy Award nomination for Happy-Go-Lucky, stars in Made in Dagenham, about the 1968 strike by female workers at the Ford Dagenham car plant. A block of Jewish-themed films includes The Concert, Inside Hana's Suitcase (whose director, Larry Weinstein, will be at the festival), and The Matchmaker. Also screening is the first season of Isabella Rossellini's Green Pornos; director and producer Jody Shapiro is scheduled to appear. For more info, visit terracetheater1.vpweb.com.
