If you’re a Facebook or Twitter follower of Julie Wheat, the local clothing designer and vintage reseller behind the Cavortress label, you may have heard talk or seen pictures of III, the horror film that Wheat is co-producing and designing costumes for.
The movie, which was filmed in 2-D and 3-D, is produced locally by TBA Productions LLC and Hollywood SC Studios and was filmed on a plantation in St. Matthews. III drew its cast and crew from the region, using students from Trident Tech, Charleston School of the Arts, the Art Institute of Charleston, and the Savannah College of Art and Design, as well as professionals, for behind-the-scenes work.
The actors’ resumés include shows like One Tree Hill, Vampire Diaries, and Eastbound and Down. Expect a very Southern scary movie, complete with sexy girls, masked killers, and barbecue. We hear from Wheat that it draws from classic slasher and creature feature films (think 1970s-’80s era), but maintains a sense of humor.
You’ll be able to find III on Kickstarter soon, and an invitational screening is planned for the future. In the meantime, check them out on Facebook.
