Local Bravo reality show will star T-Rav, other 'Southern aristocracy'

"Ostentation unlike any other"

Charleston has finally hit the big time: We’re getting our very own Bravo reality show called Southern Charm. Here’s the official word from Bravo:

“The notoriously closed society of Charleston, South Carolina unlocks the gates of their centuries-old plantation homes for a real-life look at how modern-day Southern aristocracy lives. Get charmed by the social scene which is bound by tradition and ostentation unlike any other culture in America, through a group of the city’s most charismatic gentlemen and their Southern belle equals.”

We’ve heard whispers about the show since at least last summer, when the pilot is rumored to have been filmed. Apparently, Thomas Ravenel, a former state treasurer who served time for drug charges, is a star of the show. We reached out to T-Rav, and all he had to say was this: “Sorry but Bravo has their own PR dept and I am contractually obligated not to say anything.” Boring.

FITSNews (where Ravenel is an occasional contributor) reports other cast members include Shep Rose, nephew of former S.C. Department of Safety director Boykin Rose, as well as executive producer Whitney Sudler-Smith. Sudler-Smith is the son of Patricia Altshul, the Manhattan socialite who moved to a mansion South of Broad in 2008. According to FITS, Sudler-Smith’s cousin Nick Loeb is engaged to Sofia Vergara, who recently attracted attention when she spent Easter weekend in Charleston. It’s all coming together.

FITS reports that filming will begin next month.
